ABC Nursery School accepts children ages 30 months to 5 years old. Our school year starts in September and ends in June. We offer various programming options to meet your families needs.

Programming Options:

2 morning program (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

3 morning program (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)

5 day programs (Mondays-Fridays)

Afternoon programming, including two days, three days, and five days a week.

*Our afternoon programming is designed for children preparing for JK. In
this program families send their child with a bagged lunch and there are no naps.

* The number of children under the age of 30 months is limited and subject to the discretion of our supervisor.
* Full day programming is available at the discretion of the supervisor, subject to the individual readiness of the child.

Our programming is led by the interests of the children, while also being facilitated by the educators. This approach allows for a fun classroom experience that is also full of learning. Children grow and learn at their own pace in a safe, caring and nurturing environment through creative and sensory exploration, imaginative play, group sharing time, and active discovery. Recognizing that children are competent, capable and curious learners, we offer a “learn through play” atmosphere, including: Active Play, Creative & Sensory Exploration, Imaginative Exploration and Group Sharing Times. We balance free choice with structured teacher-led activities allowing children to grow andlearn at their own pace in a safe, nurturing environment.

CREATIVE AND SENSORY EXPLORATION

Painting, cutting and pasting, or playing with puzzles and games are all opportunities for the children to explore their artistic creativity while supporting the development of their fine motor
skills. Various styles of sensory bins or playdough help to stimulate a child’s senses while also supporting their fine motor skills, language development and cognitive growth. All of these
activities foster positive social interactions and peer engagement.

IMAGINATIVE EXPLORATION

Through role-play and dress-up in the dramatic play centre, children are encouraged to use their imaginations, explore different perspectives and discover new ways to express themselves. Imaginative play nurtures creativity while supporting the development of problem-solving, communication and social skills. As children take on different roles, create stories and engage with their peers, they build confidence, strengthen relationships and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

GROUP SHARING TIME

Stories, meaningful discussions, singing and dancing are thoughtfully incorporated into our current themes and learning experiences. These engaging activities encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings, share ideas, and develop their communication skills. Through collaborative conversations and creative expression, children build confidence, strengthen relationships and learn from one another.

ACTIVE PLAY

Outdoor play including riding bikes, dancing to music, balancing on beams, and crawling through tunnels all enhance the development of gross motor skills and cooperation. We
engage in active play both inside the classroom, (especially on those rainy or “too cold” days), as well as in our beautiful outdoor playground.

JK READINESS

Through engaging songs, games, and hands-on activities, children begin to develop an understanding of the days of the week, months of the year, alphabet, numbers, and other important early learning skills. These experiences help build confidence, independence, and foundational knowledge to support a smooth and successful transition to kindergarten. Daily activities include::

  • phonics
  • letter recognition (upper and lower case)
  • printing (children work on recognizing, spelling and writing their own name)
  • sorting (colour, size, patterns)
  • shapes
  • basic math skills
  • working as a group, children learn how to co-operate and take turns, improve social skills, reasoning and manners
